Contributors Featured Throughout the Yahoo! Network

Compelling personal stories and expert insights from some outstanding Associated Content Contributors are appearing across the Yahoo! network.

Pam Gaulin was published on Yahoo! News when she wrote a great first-person editorial about indecent language on television. Her smart and compelling piece drew lots of comments on both sides of the issue!

Mary Carol Herwood, Mike Spain, and Mary DeBerry were featured on Yahoo! Finance after sharing their personal stories about retirement with us. Their wisdom and experiences can help young people today plan for retirement in the future, while retirees can relate both to the challenges these Contributors experienced and to the rewards of saving and planning ahead.

Lifelong Cleveland sports fanatic Zac Wassink shared a personal account of perpetual heartbreak over the failures of his beloved teams with the readers of Yahoo! Sports. Wade Souza was also featured on Y! Sports, commenting on the 2010 NFL draft.

Paranormal enthusiast Tamara L. Waters recounts lessons learned by watching Ghost Hunters International on the Yahoo! TV Blog.

Meg G. suggests 10 things that you should do before the summer ends in her first contribution to "Manage Your Life" on Yahoo! Shine.

Finally, Rebecca LaPole got her spot on Yahoo! Music by writing a great summary of the history of Ace of Base and their reasons for coming out of retirement without the two most recognizable voices in the original group.

If you haven't had the opportunity to create content for Yahoo! yet, keep your eyes peeled on the Assignment Desk and make sure your profile showcases your passions, writing talent, education and expertise.

How does one write for Yahoo! via AC? Do they contact you or do you contact them?

I feel like I've been left out of something. After reading the list of Yahoo contributors, I noticed that two names were missing from the Yahoo Finance list of recent contributors: Ron Orenstein (that would be me), and Carrie Belt. Our articles appeared on page two, after Mary DeBerry, Mike Spain and Mary Carol Herwood.

Accuracy is everything!

Sandra- The best thing to do is make sure your AC profile reflects your background and interests. You should also apply to the Feature Contributor program in your primary areas of expertise. Doing that will increase targeting opportunities.

Ron- The focus of this roundup is pieces that were published on the various Yahoo! properties. It looks like your piece was linked to from one of those features, which is also awesome, but different from being published on Yahoo! Finance. The good news: there will be plenty of additional featuring opportunities down the line.

Ron (con't.)- But if we're missing something, please post a link. :)

AC - I don't have the link because it was published on July 16, and has since been removed. The article on Yahoo Finance contained 3 articles on the first page and two on the second. The first 3 were written by Mary Carol Herwood, Mike Spain and Mary DeBerry, and their names were listed in the congratulatory note on the blog. At the bottom of the page were links to my article as well as the one written by Carrie Belt. I don't know if the placement of our articles meant that they were not on Yahoo Finance, but I did receive an email from Associated Content that my article was published on Yahoo Finance, followed by another email a few days later that told me that my article had been moved to the Yahoo front page.

I'm not looking for any at'a'boys, but since I am new at this, I'm just trying to learn what I need to do in order to get noticed - just like everyone else wants. I have published only 12 articles since my first one on June 14, and I have only reached Clout level 4 + 73%, but I do so like it when things are accurate.

I appreciate any advice you can give

Hey Ron,

I took another look at your retirement piece, and while it IS still linked to from Yahoo! Finance (http://look.ac/cGMvih), we don't have a record of it having been published on Yahoo!. If you can forward any notifcations you received from us to community [at] associatedcontent [dot] com, we can dig in further.

As for getting noticed, your best bets are publishing frequently in your areas of expertise, and applying to all relevant Featured Contributor programs: http://look.ac/asq5yn

Email us (same address mentioned above) if you have additional questions.

Thanks!

I hope AC continues to publish links to AC Source Writers who have been published on Yahoo! It's interesting to see what they accept plus I never really know if/when they end up accepting my entries. I found one completely by accident ("First Person: Hitting Chicago's Sidewalks for Democratic Voters"). I tried using Google Alerts to keep track of them, but it shows me too many general results. Anyway, thumbs up to all of those who are/were/will be featured.
